Hi! My name is Marielle Songy, and I'm a writer.

 

Born and raised in New Orleans, I've always been passionate about the written word. As a freelance journalist, I enjoy writing about the food, people, and culture of the city where I was raised.

My first book, The Absinthe Frappé, was published by LSU Press in 2023. My second book, Coffee Culture New Orleans, will be published by LSU Press in August.

​

I've written personal interest pieces for local and national web and print publications. I've also worked with various businesses to produce valuable content for their brand.

​

I enjoy research and learning. When I have a conversation with someone about something they're passionate about, I learn something new. Nothing compares to meeting a chef pumped about a signature dish, a bartender who spun their passion for chemistry into a career, or someone who wants to make a difference in the world by helping others. I love sharing those stories with readers; those are the human stories that unite us.​

In addition to working as a journalist, I write poetry and creative stories.
